Gift Horse Project At It Again! – Friday, April 30, Bootleg Theatre, Silverlake (Los Angeles)

And if that’s not big enough news, let me add that rotating into this latest GHP line up is Royston Langdon. He joins his brother Antony, along with Rain Phoenix (Papercranes), and Ane Diaz (Causey Way, Producto). Also performing will be Norm Block, Kirk Hellie, Dave Palmer, Dermot Mulroney, A.J. Mason, Chris Tucci, and the ever mysterious sounding, very special guests.

All proceeds will be donated to Silverlake Conservatory Of  Music http://www.silverlakeconservatory.com/index.php . Not only is this an unique opportunity to hear some incredibly talented musicians perform together, it’s a chance to support a worthy cause.

Jonny Cragg on Beans on Toast

Jonny Cragg

Q: Jonny, my local British pub does not sell beans on toast. I’m downright indignant about this. Do you have any advice?

A: You need BRITISH BEANS, none o that US pork bbq bs. One can augment with a smear of Marmite on top of hot buttered toast and maybe some grated cheddar on the top of the beans. Me I’m all old school; i serve the beans on the side and butter toast. That way you preserve the integrity and crispness of the bread to the last mouthful as you fork the beans onto the toast, bit by bit.  A tip for the beans is to slow cook them on the lowest heat in a shallow pan, don’t even let ‘em come to the boil or they’ll disintegrate.  My personal favourite brand is Crosse and Blackwell but HP or Heinz (sky Blue can) are just fine.
